When you own a personal computer, you need to buy anti virus to protect it from malicious programs. No matter how much we want to avoid it and no matter how careful we may be with our computers, there is no telling when it will be attacked by a virus or other malware. Most people believe that you can only get viruses by visiting websites of low repute, however this is not the case.
Viruses and malicious programs are often found online but there are some that attach themselves on removable storage like a USB flash disks, so even if you are not visiting a virus infested site or if you are not so much of an internet surfer, your computer is still in danger of contracting a virus simply by transferring a file from other sources. There are a lot of horror stories when it comes to computers getting infected with viruses and most of them are because the owner failed to buy proper anti virus for their computer.
If you are willing to spend money, time and effort, it is possible to recover from an infection, by performing a format of the disk infected, but you will lose a lot of data.
In most cases this means a full wipe of the system, so hopefully you don't have an attachment with the files on your computer, like family photos or videos of your children. Of course, this is simply focusing on the loss of data, but there are more serious threats commonly connected to these types of software, ranging from identity theft to credit card fraud.
All this and more is just because the proper anti virus wasn’t purchased and installed.
We often hear the adage that prevention is still the best cure. It's still applicable even with computers, and can be managed by getting an antivirus and making sure it's updated regularly. Instead of having to face losing files, time and money, get equiped first. Isn't it time you went out to
